Bakuchoil - the natural + safe alternative to retinol products

skin health Apr 27, 2021

Retinoid products are everywhere! Whether it’s over the counter skincare products or prescribed by your family doctor, retinol products make huge promises!

I am not here to discount the scientific studies that show the effectiveness of retinoid products for acne and anti aging however they come with some severe side effects that can actually make your skin worse in the long run. Side effects such as skin irritation, burning sensation, prolonged redness and peeling.

Not to worry though early studies have found that Bakuchoil, a plant-derived ingredient, delivers all the benefits of retinol without any of the downside.

So what is Bakuchiol?

Bakuchiol is derived from the seeds and leaves the babchi tree, native to India and Sri Lanka. Though it’s seems to have just recently burst on to the cosmetic market bakuchiol has been used for centuries in skincare remedies found in traditional Chinese skincare and Ayurvedic.

The many benefits of Bakuchiol:

  1. Reduces and softness the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. Collagen production improves the skin’s overall elasticity, leading the skin to plumber and firmer.
  2. Increases skin cell turnover, shedding older, dryer and discoloured skin, leaving smoother, clearer skin. Dark, uneven pigmentation fades improves tone and texture of the skin.
  3. Effective acne treatment. Increased cell turnover ensures pores are clear from dirt and debris that leads to a build up of oil and eventual breakout.
  4. Sensitive skin and to retinol, no worries, Bakuchiol can be used on the most sensitive skin twice a day.
  5. It’s natural! Concerned about the products you introduce to your skin? Rest assured bakuchiol is natural and organic with no synthetic products.

How do to use it

+replaces all your retinol / vitamin A skin care products.

+apply once or twice per day.

+morning - cleanse, toner, bakuchiol and then your SPF/Moisturizer

+evening - cleanse, toner, bakuchiol

Some clients find that serums can sometimes be too greasy, it’s more than likely you are using too much.

A little goes along way if your face is either damp after washing or after applying toner. You can simply drop 1 - 2 drops onto the palm of your hand, add water or toner and massage into your face in circular upward motion.

Don’t forget your neck!
