Hair Loss Microneedling
Microneedling for hair loss is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a handheld device equipped with tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the scalp. This process stimulates the body's natural healing response, promoting increased blood flow and the production of growth factors that encourage hair follicle regeneration. The micro-injuries also enhance the absorption of topical treatments, such as serums or growth factors, applied during or after the procedure. Microneedling for hair loss promotes collagen production, improve circulation, and revitalize dormant hair follicles, ultimately leading to thicker, healthier hair growth.

What should I expect during my first treatment?
Consultation: You will have an initial consultation with our holistic medical aesthetician to discuss your hair loss concerns and medical history. They will assess your scalp's condition, determine the appropriate treatment plan, and explain the procedure to you.
Preparing for the Treatment: Before the treatment, you may be asked to wash your hair and scalp thoroughly to ensure a clean treatment area.
Numbing Cream Application: Prior to the procedure, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. This cream helps minimize discomfort during the microneedling process.
The numbing cream typically needs to sit on your scalp for about 20 to 30 minutes to take effect.
Serum Application: Your PRP will be applied topically to the treatment area in preparation for the microneedling.
Microneedling Procedure: Our holistic medical aesthetician will use a microneedling device to create controlled micro-injuries on your scalp's surface.
The depth of the microneedles will be adjusted according to your specific needs and the area being treated.
Post-Treatment Care: After the treatment, the treated area may appear red and feel slightly sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn.
Our holistic medical aesthetician will provide you with specific post-treatment care instructions, including avoiding sun exposure and certain hair products for a designated period.
Follow-Up: We will schedule your next treatment before leaving the clinic. Typically in four weeks.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of microneedling treatments you will need and the time it takes to see results can vary depending on several factors, including the severity of your hair loss, your individual response to the treatment, and your treatment plan. Generally, a series of treatment sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results.
Treatment Frequency:
- For most people, a series of 4 to 6 treatment sessions is often recommended, spaced about 4 weeks apart. The exact number of sessions may be determined during your initial consultation and may be adjusted based on your progress.
Time to See Results:
It's essential to have realistic expectations, as hair growth is a gradual process. Some clients may start to notice improvements after the first or second session, while others may take longer to see noticeable changes.
Results are typically most apparent after completing the full series of treatments and may continue to improve over the following months as new hair growth occurs.
Individual responses to the treatment may vary, so it's essential to be patient and consistent with your treatment plan.
Maintenance:
After completing the initial series of treatments, maintenance sessions may be recommended to sustain the results and promote ongoing hair health.
The frequency of maintenance sessions can vary from person to person, but they are usually scheduled every 6 to 12 months.
It's important to note that while microneedling can be effective for many individuals experiencing hair loss or thinning, not everyone may respond in the same way.
Results can vary, and individual factors play a significant role in determining the outcome.
Am I a good candidate?
Microneedling for hair loss can be an effective treatment option for individuals who meet certain criteria. The right candidate for this treatment typically includes:
1. Mild to Moderate Hair Loss: Microneedling is generally more effective for individuals with mild to moderate hair loss or thinning. It may not be as effective for those with advanced or severe hair loss.
2. Healthy Scalp and Hair Follicles: The treatment works best for individuals who have viable hair follicles on their scalp. If the hair follicles are completely dormant or damaged beyond repair, the treatment may not yield significant results.
3. Non-Pregnant and Non-Breastfeeding: Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals are generally advised to avoid microneedling with PRP treatments due to safety considerations.
4. Absence of Certain Medical Conditions: Some medical conditions, such as blood disorders or active infections on the scalp, may be contraindicated for this treatment. A comprehensive medical evaluation will help identify any conditions that might prevent candidacy.
5. Realistic Expectations: Candidates should have realistic expectations about the treatment's results and understand that hair growth is a gradual process. Patience and consistency with the treatment plan are essential.
6. Commitment to Multiple Sessions: Microneedling is typically performed in a series of sessions for optimal results. Candidates should be willing to commit to multiple treatments as advised by the healthcare professional.
7. No Allergies to Treatment Components: Candidates should not have allergies to the topical numbing cream, or any other products used during the treatment.
8. Willingness to Follow Aftercare Instructions: Proper post-treatment care is crucial to achieve the best outcomes. Candidates should be willing to follow the recommended aftercare instructions provided by the healthcare professional.
When will I see results?
The timeline for seeing results from microneedling for hair loss can vary from person to person. Generally, it takes time for the treatment to stimulate hair growth and improve hair density. Here's a general timeline of what you might expect:
1. Early Results: Some individuals may start to notice initial improvements in hair texture and thickness after the 2-3 sessions. The scalp may feel healthier, and existing hairs may appear stronger.
2. Noticeable Changes: Significant changes in hair growth and density typically become more apparent after completing the initial series of treatments (usually 3 to 6 sessions). This can take around 3 to 6 months from the start of the treatment series.
3. Continued Improvement: Hair growth and improvement in hair density may continue over the next several months after the last treatment session. Some individuals may continue to see gradual improvements up to 9 to 12 months after the initial treatment.
4. Maintenance and Long-term Results: To sustain the results, maintenance treatments may be recommended every 6 to 12 months, depending on individual needs. Regular maintenance helps promote ongoing hair health and can extend the benefits of the initial treatment series.
It's essential to have realistic expectations and be patient during the process. Hair growth is a gradual process, and individual responses to the treatment can vary. Additionally, the timeline for results may depend on the severity of hair loss, overall health, and how well you adhere to the recommended treatment plan.

Will this work for men and women?
Microneedling for hair growth has gained popularity as a versatile and innovative treatment for hair loss in both men and women. It addresses various forms of hair loss, making it a suitable option for individuals with different underlying causes of hair thinning or alopecia.
One of the key reasons why microneedling works for both men and women is its natural approach to hair restoration.
During the microneedling procedure, tiny needles create micro-injuries in the scalp, which triggers the body's natural healing response. This process not only stimulates collagen production but also enhances blood circulation to the scalp, promoting a healthier environment for hair follicles to thrive.
For men experiencing male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia, microneedling can be effective in rejuvenating dormant hair follicles and stimulating hair growth in thinning areas. The growth factors in serum we use while microneedling help to strengthen existing hair and encourage the growth of new, thicker hair strands.
Women, too, can benefit from microneedling , particularly for hair thinning due to hormonal changes, stress, or post-pregnancy hair loss. PRP's regenerative properties can help improve the quality and density of hair, addressing concerns related to hair volume and overall hair health.
Moreover, microneedling offers several advantages over surgical hair restoration procedures. It is a minimally invasive treatment that does not require incisions or the transplantation of hair follicles. As a result, there is little to no downtime, and patients can resume their regular activities shortly after the procedure.
Additionally, microneedling is a long-lasting solution. The effects of treatment typically become more noticeable over time, with progressive improvements in hair texture, density, and overall appearance. Regular maintenance sessions can further enhance and sustain the results, providing a natural-looking and lasting solution for hair loss.

Most common reasons for hair loss?
- Eczema: Brown or red inflamed bumps resembling a rash; can be minimized with an anti-eczema diet, oatmeal or baking soda baths, and coal tar-containing hair care products.
- Alopecia Areata: Immune system disruption causing rapid hair loss in bald patches; hair typically grows back naturally; scalp reconditioning products can aid in hair regrowth.
- Psoriasis: Autoimmune reaction causing red bumps with flakey coloring due to underactive shedding of skin cells.
- Impetigo: Highly contagious and itchy sores with yellowish or orangish layering; requires antibiotics for bacterial treatment.
- Telogen Effluvium: Sudden hair loss triggered by shocks like medication, stress, childbirth, or dieting; new hair strands will grow; good hair care routine can help.
- Dandruff: White or yellow flakes on hair, skin, or clothes; caused by overactive yeast production and oily or dry skin; use products with ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, coal tar, or zinc pyrithione.
- Actinic Keratosis: Sun-induced skin damage resulting in patchy and scaly scalp with brittle hair strands.
- Folliculitis: Bumps in hair follicles resembling blisters or acne whiteheads; requires antibacterial shampoo; severe cases may need bacterial antibiotics.
- Male Pattern Baldness: Passed through maternal lineage, seen as a receding hairline; use minoxidil-based hair regrowth treatments like Bosley for men.
- Female Pattern Baldness: Age and menopause contribute to hair loss, often affecting the parting line; use minoxidil treatments like Bosley for women.
- Shampooing and Conditioning: Choose appropriate shampoo and conditioner to protect against hair loss; develop a regular hair care routine to maintain scalp and strand health.
- Styling and Coloring: Styling agents and ammonia or bleach-based coloring treatments can cause scalp and hair damage; use gentle hair products like Bosley for protection.
- Premature Gray Hair: Genetic predisposition can cause gray hair before the age of forty; avoid harsh chemicals and excessive heat styling to protect hair.
- Medications and Hair Loss: Some medications can lead to short-term hair loss, but hair usually grows back after discontinuation.
How long does it take to regrow hair?
Once your scalp and hair follicles enter the re-growth stage, it typically takes about two weeks for new hair to start appearing.
Around the four-week mark, your hair strands will begin to take shape and grow at their normal rate.
By approximately eight weeks, you can expect to have about one inch of hair on your head.
Should I massage my scalp?
Recent studies have revealed that incorporating a daily four-minute scalp massage routine for 24 weeks can lead to improvements in hair thickness and changes in gene expressions. This massage technique also enhances blood flow in the arteries supplying the hair follicles and roots, promoting hair growth while reducing the likelihood of scalp inflammation, physical or emotional stress, heart problems, and high blood pressure. You can perform the scalp massage before washing your hair or while using a volumizing dry shampoo.
Here are some tips for an effective scalp massage:
- Be gentle and use your fingertips, paying attention to your stress level.
- Gradually increase the compression if you feel more pressure in specific areas like the scalp, face, or neck, as a proper massage can have a holistic mind and body effect.
- Start massaging at the hairline edges and move upward towards the crown area.
- Continue with moderate circular motions for a duration of four minutes.
- Repeat this process daily and observe changes in stress levels, hair loss, or hair growth progress over time.
Nutrition?
To maintain optimal scalp health, it's crucial to ensure a balanced intake of both macro and micronutrients. Including foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, and zinc in your diet can greatly support the health of your hair and scalp. Additionally, increasing your consumption of whole grains, dairy products, and leafy vegetables can have positive effects on your scalp since it is also skin and tissue, benefiting from nutrients that promote overall body health.
Avoid crash diets, as they can lead to severe hair loss and thinning. Insufficient calorie intake negatively impacts both your scalp's health and the vibrancy of your hair strands.
If you have an autoimmune disorder, eating disorder, or are on a diet, consider taking a nutritional supplement specifically designed to support hair health, skin care, and hair regrowth practices.
This will provide the necessary nutrients to nourish your scalp and promote healthy hair growth.
