Community acupuncture sessions at EastND PEI are slotted for 30 minutes but can run up to 40 minutes if time allows. Therefore, you must come a few minutes early for your appointment so that you do not miss valuable treatment time in the chair and are not rushed and anxious when you sit down to receive your treatment. It is also important to note that if you are running late, you must be at most 6 minutes past your start time. If you are late past the allowed time, you will forfeit your time slot and be charged the missed appointment fee.
It is best that you wear clothing that can help us access legs, arms, ears and your head, as these are the main areas we will be using for chair acupuncture sessions. If you have a needle issue, please let us know so we can talk you through it; we want you to love acupuncture as much as we do. It is mostly sensation free, but you can feel achy, itchy, and warm feelings at some points; this is normal and not unpleasant. If anything feels uncomfortable, we will adjust.
Our in-person intake is relatively fast, so please complete the online intake form so we can have an overview.
When you arrive, please check in with reception and your acupuncturist will come get you at your appointment time.
There are 4 reclining chairs in our community acupuncture rooms so expect you may have other acupuncture friends sharing space with you. Soft music will play, and a relaxing essential oil blend misting in the background.
Once treatment is complete, we encourage you to drink water, have a healthy snack and honour how you feel for the day. Try not to do anything overly stimulating, and focus on nourishing activities that help continue your post-acupuncture glow.
