Natural Skin Rejuvenation

Alternatives to botox...

We're happy to answer an all too common question "Are there alternatives to botox?" and "How do I keep my skin looking flawless and youthful?".

The signs of aging are generally due to the decline in our key hormones, mixed with dehydration and oxidative stress from the environment and diet.

The simple answer is, yes there are alternatives to botox. We have included our three favourite. The more complex answer is, these alternatives are not cure alls and best results are obtained thorough an individual investigation of your needs.

Are you overworked? Going through menopause? In need of guidance for your digestive concerns? We always recommend starting with an initial consultation with one of our ND's to guide your treatment choices.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

This cosmetic treatment is an extension of traditional acupuncture. It’s said to naturally help make the skin look younger, smoother, and all-around healthier. And unlike injection procedures, facial acupuncture addresses not only signs of aging, but also the skin’s overall health.

As the needles puncture the skin, they create wounds within its threshold, which are called positive micro-traumas. When your body senses these wounds, it goes into repair mode. These punctures stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory system, which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells, nourishing skin from the inside out. This helps even out your complexion and promote your skin’s glow. The positive micro-traumas also stimulates the production of collagen. This helps improve elasticity, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Cosmetic acupuncture can be combined with micro-needling, and is especially helpful for maintaining results between treatments.

✪ Best Treatment For:

  • Decreasing acne and scarring
  • Brightening overall complexion
  • Preventing fine lines and wrinkles

Collagen Induction/ Micro-needling

Micro-needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. This is similar to cosmetic acupuncture, but instead of using approximately 20 needles, micro-needling uses 100s of fine needles with a rolling technique. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Micro-needling may also be combined with a topical treatment, like PRP (platelet rich plasma) or another vitamin-rich serum.

✪ Best Treatment For:

  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reducing the size of pores
  • Reducing stretch marks

PRP Facials

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the most invasive of the three treatments but yet another natural means of facial rejuvenation. The PRP method involves facial injections (similar to botox and fillers) but instead of using toxins and chemical, it uses plasma taken from the patient’s own blood. The plasma is rich in platelets and can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and dark circles under their eyes. The probability of side effects is practically nonexistent because the body does not reject its own blood.

✪ Best Treatment For:

  • Deep lines and wrinkles
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Deep scars and sun spots
